Build It incorporating SelfBuild & Design is the longest running, and best-selling self build magazine in the UK*, and its mission is to deliver the detailed information consumers need to successfully build a high-performing house, on time and on budget. As a logical step in this mission, in 2019 we built our own house using innovative new techniques and materials. The project was the first of its kind in the UK and Build It’s Self-Build Education House is now open to the public. By visiting, consumers can gain insight that will inform their buying decisions when building their own home.

In 2022, Build It merged with another self build title, SelfBuild & Design, and now brings together the best of these two, long-established magazines. Build It readers range from empty-nesters to growing families. They are hands-on, practical people, with a large proportion currently planning or undertaking a self build or extension project.

Build It Live is the UK’s most practical self build and home renovating exhibition, giving more impartial, professional advice than any other shows! Build It Live takes place annually in three locations, Maidstone in Kent, Bicester in Oxfordshire and Exeter in Devon, targeting three affluent corners of the country, where self building is rife.
